Organic Bliss

Personal Project

Organic Bliss is a fictional eco-conscious lifestyle brand that offers organic and sustainable products. The brand aims to promote a healthier and more environmentally friendly lifestyle while providing high-quality, ethically sourced goods. I started this project to challenge myself in 3D, the creation of assets, and animation.

I wanted the logo to feel warm and natural. Many logos that I researched had obvious iconography that explicitly expressed the ‘nature’ side of the company, such as leaves and plants. I wanted to avoid these traits because I didn’t find them exciting/interesting enough to work on, so I started by looking into type first because I find the shapes of certain typefaces key to unlocking the rest of the brand. I stumbled upon Gruppo which I thought had very nice, non-geometric-looking letter shapes, I decided to use it as the main typeface for now to base the logo off.

I then went to the sketching phase on Fresco. I wanted to keep the shape of the “O” pretty much the same and to make the “B” look something akin to a microbe or some sort of tiny organism, avoiding any sharp corners. It was really challenging to get the curve on the bottom part of the “B” right, too much weight on one side, too rounded, too edgy… Eventually, I felt that I got it right and I took the sketches to Illustrator. I was also playing around with the idea of having counters in the “B”, or removing them from the “O”, but ultimately, I stuck to my original idea. After I got the logo most of the way there, I started experimenting with colours.

I was inspired by a recent walk in the woods, I love the warm bright green of leaves when the sun shines through them. It’s so vibrant and, when contrasted with the darker greens of other surrounding leaves, it reminds me of looking up at the stars at night. A beautiful sight. Of course, I can’t replicate such beauty with my skills, but I can be inspired. I settled on 5 initial colours that I felt were solid enough to carry on with the project, tweaking them as necessary. As I carried on, I made some small tweaks to the logo to make it feel more natural.
